Welcome, my friends, to Charlamagne’s Bar & Lounge!

welcome to Carlamagnes - "The Crown of Downtown"Located in downtown Augusta, Charlamagne’s has an upscale, cosmopolitan
feel and offers a relaxing place to enjoy good food, wine and spirits, live entertainment - a warm and welcoming atmosphere to share with friends.

Our goal for Charlamagne’s is to be a home away from home - a place where one can listen to music, watch a game, laugh, meet old friends and make new ones.

Charlamagne’s exposed brick wall shows the character of the 125-year-old building, while the boldness of its polished cement bar and subtleness of hung Tiffany lamps shows a uniqueness not found anywhere in Central Maine.

The letter “C” from Chernowsky’s department store is still engraved in the beautiful stone tile on the ground at the front door.  This played a major part in choosing the name Charlamagne’s.

I was born and raised in Augusta and remember very well the bustle of Water Street when I was a child.  My parents have told me countless stories about
this city in their day, when downtown Augusta was a thriving business and entertainment community. I am honored to have a proactive part in breathing life back into downtown, and I hope that the contribution of Charlamagne’s will help do just that.

Thank you, and welcome to the Crown of Downtown!

Tina Charest,
Owner/Operator of Charlamagne's

Accents of honey, reminding one of the South German whites made from that grape. $7.50 by the glass

Crisp, refreshing and elegant. The vineyards through Mosel provide a wine with fresh peach flavors, clean mineral notes, and a hint of spiciness.

Red Wines

Louis Martini – Cabernet Sauvignon
Made to accentuate the high-toned, delightful fruits of Sonoma County's vineyards, this wine offers many layers, featuring aromas and flavors of red cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with an underlying dry creek dustiness. The round, full mouth feel has just enough structure to lead it into a fruit focused finish. $7.50 by the glass

Hahn – Pinot Noir
Fresh raspberry and black cherry scents are intense and concentrated followed in the mid-palate by decadent berry compote flavors with fragrant cardamom and clove undertones. This is a rich and vibrant wine whose purity of Pinot Noir flavors are given dimension by a light touch of toasty oak, supported by earthy tannins and classic cool-climate acidity. $7.50 by the glass

Alamos – Malbec
This Malbec has a dark purple color with violet highlights. The nose offers bright black cherry aromas with light floral notes and a touch of toast. The mouth feel is full and rich, with ripe, concentrated cassis and black raspberry fruit interwoven with a touch of chocolate and sweet spice from light oak aging. Musician Spotlight

Hurry Down Sunshine

Bob White, musician

Brownie McGhee sang: “Hurry Down Sunshine, see what tomorrow brings….it may be sunshine; then again it may be rain.”

We are Brian Kavanah and Stan Davis, playing jazz standards, the blues, love songs, and other songs about life.

Brian’s singing, Stan’s storytelling, and our two guitars weave a tapestry of complex, ever-changing music. Our music combines deep, emotional vocals and improvised acoustic guitar melodies. Like the guitarist Michael Hedges, we play the guitar because it lets us dream out loud

I have been a "Photographer" for most of my life, capturing moments for my family and friends since I got my first camera at age ten. However, about ten years ago everything changed when a co-worker asked me to take photos at her wedding in Northern Maine. That weekend changed my life. I loved being a part of such a special event, capturing all the emotion of the day, and seeing new possibilities emerge through the lens of my camera.

I am now in school again, studying art/photography, and loving every moment! My photographic world has expanded exponentially, opening my eyes to the many directions I can take as I move forward. Although I do a lot of weddings and portraits in the professional part of my photography, many of my artistic photographs focus on places that have a human element and feel, but have no people in them.
